PartnerCHIP - About Us

PartnerCHIP has been founded to help solve the problems of waste in Epsom & Ewell. The problem is summarised HERE, and our overall plan is HERE. A major part of the problem is of organic matter going to the tip and being sent as landfill, and our project wants much more of this to stay in Epsom & Ewell, and be used as compost or mulch

We have now launched our Shredder Hire Service, please phone us on 01372-812817 or use the online enquiry form.
There will be a number of compost demonstrations to help people who have recently bought compost bins from the council to make better compost, including at every Farmers Market on the first Sunday of each month

PartnerCHIP began with support from the Epsom & Ewell Local Agenda 21 group, whose website is here.

We are very grateful to the following organisations:-

  • PartnerCHIP's first phase has been funded by Surrey County Council's "Surrey Waste Action Group", and we are very grateful for this
  • Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is giving us considerable help and support with storing and transporting our equipment, and considerable help and support from their Recycling Officer, Jon Sharpe
  • The Old Moat Centre in Horton Lane is a market garden which employ learning disability trainees, and they are giving us considerable help with compost demonstration site

We hope that all other local political, community and amenity organisations will also become our partners and support us as we try to

  1. reduce the money wasted taking rubbish to landfill sites, plus.
  2. reduce the money wasted buying commercial fertilisers, when we have all we need to make our own compost

PartnerCHIP has a management committee chaired by George McNamara, with representatives from other organisations. In these initial stages he is also employed as manager on a part-time casual basis.

Our full constitution is here online.
Our Progress Report in April 2005 is here
